Custom Builds

We have great expertise when it comes to custom builds

At Danilift A/S we are always up to the task of creating custom builds whenever the customer has a special need. This means that we can add special features to our standard platforms or modify them.

We frequently create standard solutions which have been specially modified for all kinds of purposes. Our expertise is especially great when it comes to hydraulics, electrical soutions, platform booms and general platform constructions, so in these fields we will go to unusually great lengths to make our customers' wishes come true.

Below you can learn more about some of the custom builds made by Danilift over the years.

Scissor lift with rotating platform and workshop

Wiener Linien needed another special vehicle for the maintenance of Vienna’s tram network, and Danilift provided a tailor-made solution. We developed and produced a scissor lift from scratch, designed to meet the customer’s specific needs. The lift has a working height of 8 meters, a horizontal outreach of 3.5 meters and a working platform that can rotate 2x230 degrees for maximum flexibility. In order to optimize transport, the sides of the platform can be completely folded so that the lift lies flat on the vehicle without taking up unnecessary space. In addition, we have integrated a purpose-built workshop with seating and storage solutions for materials and tools, so that the unit functions as both a workshop and a comfortable space for the technicians.

Access platform for tramway maintenance in Vienna

Wiener Linien needed to replace their old special vehicle for tramway maintenance in Vienna. They wanted a modern solution with better functionality and working conditions for the technicians. Danilift delivered a custom-built PD180V access platform mounted on a robust MAN chassis.

The access platform is equipped with an enlarged 200 x 200 cm fiberglass cage with a capacity of 500 kg, allowing up to four technicians to work simultaneously. With a working height of 14.3 meters and a horizontal outreach of 11.4 meters, the access platform provides optimal reach.

The vehicle has ample storage space, a spacious workshop with seating, a folding table and a workstation. In addition, the driver’s cab is equipped with a cable management device for maintenance work.

Special underground access platform mounted on Dodge RAM

One of Germany’s leading salt producers were facing a challenge: their old underground access platforms no longer met the demands of modern underground mining. They needed a solution that could both streamline work processes and improve operator safety. This lead to Danilift developing a mining access platform, dubbed P110V, designed to handle even the most demanding underground tasks.

The access platform is mounted on a robust Dodge RAM supplied by our partner Autohaus Jakob, ensuring excellent mobility in the challenging terrain of the mines. With an innovative tilting mechanism instead of traditional outriggers, this access platform unit has unparalleled freedom of movement and can work on uneven surfaces without compromising stability.

Advanced sensors were integrated into the platform to protect the operator from the risk of hitting the ceiling of the mine. To prevent damage to the equipment, work lights and other exposed components are additionally protected from falling materials, making the unit ideal for the underground environment. In addition, the P110V is equipped with several storage cabinets and drawers, giving operators easy access to tools and equipment.

The new mining access platform has not only upgraded the company’s equipment, but has also set new standards for how work in underground mines can be carried out – with a focus on both safety and productivity.

Mining vehicle for radar measurement

After a successful delivery of the first Danilift mining unit, the customer faced a new challenge that they asked Danilift to solve: they needed a tool to optimize their work in mapping mines underground. Their existing equipment could no longer provide the necessary precision and efficiency required.

To maintain efficient mining operations, the company needed a specially designed vehicle that could lift advanced Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) units for precision surveys underground. At the same time, the solution had to be robust enough to handle the demanding terrain and logistical challenges in the mine shafts.

Danilift therefore developed the DFR600 – a radar lift that is no ordinary access platform. Rather than lifting people, this unit is designed to raise and lower two GSSI Ground Penetrating Radar units via a specially designed boom. These units collect detailed data about the geology and structures of the mine, making it possible to identify minerals, plan expansions and prevent potential hazards among other things.

The DFR600 is mounted on a Jeep Wrangler, which ensures excellent mobility and robustness in the uneven and challenging underground terrain. The Jeep’s compact size makes it suitable for the narrow mine shafts, where traditional vehicles often have to give up.

The project marks another milestone in Danilift’s ambition to deliver tailor-made solutions for complex working environments – both above and below ground.

Straightening Unit Mounted on Platform Vehicle

An electric power plant found that they were doing double the necessary work, and they needed a better solution. When they were out on the road with their platform and spotted a leaning streetlight post, they had to contact the power plant head quarters and ask them to send out a different service vehicle to straighten the streetlight post, as they did not have the proper equipment to do the task themselves.

For this reason, we created a custom platform for the power plant on which we mounted a hydraulic alignment unit. This meant that the platform operators themselves would be able to align the streetlight post straight immediately, saving both time and manpower.

Scissor Lift Mounted on Airport Vehicle

At Copenhagen Airport, we have mounted scissor lifts on airport vehicles, which are used to service the airplanes amongst various other jobs.

Cabin with Crane instead of Cage

We developed a special unit for tunnel inspections for a customer in Norway. In place of the cage, we mounted a cabin with a small crane on the vehicle.

A rotary hammer and a cleaning unit using air pressure and water were mounted on the crane. The operator could then control the vehicle from the cabin, driving back and forth and turning the vehicle while operating the other platform functions, such as the little crane and the cleaning unit, all at the same time.

In order for you to understand just how useful this custom build is, let us tell you about the previous method used for washing and inspecting tunnels:

Two men would be lifted up under the roof of the tunnel on a regular scissor lift. They would be equipped with iron rods which were used to hit the roof of the tunnel, in order to check for the sound of holes behind the outer layer of rock. If the rocks were too loose, they would of course fall down, creating an extremely dangerous work environment. To this day, this dangerous procedure is still used in several places in Norway.

Danilift's custom build has helped make tunnel inspections much more quick and consistent, and it provides a much better and safer work environment.

The possibilities are endless!
